About the Role
This role will report directly to the CEO.
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Lead to oversee the financial operations, planning, and reporting for our organization. This role requires a proactive individual with expertise in financial management, compliance, and strategic planning. The Finance Lead will play a key role in driving financial excellence, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management and Reporting: Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the budgeting process, including preparing detailed financial forecasts and variance analyses. Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic planning.
Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure liquidity and operational efficiency. Identify and file government grants to defray operational costs. Develop strategies to optimize working capital.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Manage internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Collaborate with the CTO to maintain SOC compliance and uphold the organization's security and operational standards.
Ensure the company complies with all tax, regulatory, and legal obligations. Identify and mitigate financial risks.
Process Optimization: Develop and implement efficient financial processes and systems to improve reporting, cost control, and operational scalability.
Collaboration with Teams: Work closely with sales, operations, and leadership teams to align financial goals with broader business objectives. Partner with external advisors, auditors, and legal teams as needed.
KPI Tracking and Analysis: Establish and monitor key financial metrics. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to leadership based on data-driven analysis.
Team and HR Leadership:
Manage the bookkeeper and external accountants, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial operations.
Oversee HR functions, including hiring, payroll, offboarding, and other human resource responsibilities.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across finance and HR functions.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (CPA designation or equivalent preferred).
5+ years of experience in financial management, accounting, or a related role, with a track record of success in overseeing financial operations.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and compliance requirements.
Experience in managing internal controls and compliance frameworks, including SOC compliance.
Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and present financial data to stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a startup or fast-growing company environment.
Knowledge of B2B financial processes, such as invoicing, procurement, and vendor management.
Familiarity with audit processes, fundraising, or capital management.
This is a full time & remote position. HQ is located in Vancouver, BC.
The pay range for this position is $90k - $130k / year.
